End Of Year List: My Top 5 Favorite Things Pressed On Wax This Year, In Alphabetical Order...
Please note that this list was compiled for my friends at Full Spectrum Records and originally appeared on their blog, which I heartily endorse:
- Chubby Wolf, Turkey Decoy / Released by Digitalis Recordings. Pressed on clear vinyl.
- Kyle Bobby Dunn, Ways Of Meaning / Released by Desire Path Recordings. Pressed on black vinyl.
- Simon Scott, Bunny / Released by Miasmah Recordings. Pressed on transparent red vinyl.
- Mike Shiflet, Sufferers / Released by Type Records. Pressed on transparent bottle-green vinyl.
- Trouble Books & Mark McGuire, Self-Titled / Released by Bark & Hiss / Wagon. Pressed on transparent orange vinyl.
Honorable Mention:
- Benoît Honoré Pioulard, Plays Thelma / Released by Desire Path Recordings. Pressed on clear vinyl.
Over the years, vinyl has slowly but surely become my medium of choice for listening to music. I still spend my fair share of time with digital files and other formats; but for home listening, nothing compares to the warmth and character of vinyl. With that said, I present to you my favorite LPs from 2011.
Please note that I’ve excluded reissues and things of that nature from this list. There were a lot of great ones that came out over the last 12 months, but this list is intended to showcase current artists that are busy releasing incredible work.
Go buy some wax. Happy New Year!
